WHO WE ARE?

Save the Children is an international NGO, we work to improve the lives of children in Africa and around the world. We have worked in Africa since 1963 and focus on reducing the underlying causes of poverty and improving health, education and access to food and water. Some of the countries where we operate in Africa are Sudan, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and Nigeria. In each country, we have different programs and campaigns that respond to the specific needs and challenges of children and their communities. For example, in Sudan, we are responding to the violence and humanitarian crisis that has affected millions of people. In Somalia, we are helping to prevent famine and malnutrition caused by drought and conflict. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we support children affected by Ebola and other diseases. In Kenya, we provide water, sanitation and hygiene services to drought-stricken areas. In Nigeria, we protect children from violence, especially girls, orphans and children affected by conflict. Save the Children also advocates for children's rights and works with governments, civil society and other partners to ensure children have a voice and a future.
